We use the Present Simple in several situations:
- For habits and routines: Actions you do regularly, every day, every week, etc.
- I drink coffee every morning.
- She goes to school by bus.
- For facts and general truths: Things that are always true.
- The sun rises in the east.
- Cats eat fish.
- For schedules and timetables: Fixed events like train times, cinema showings, or class schedules.
- The train leaves at 7:00 AM.
- The film starts at 8:30 PM.
- For opinions and feelings: To express what you like, love, hate, or think.
- I like pizza.
- He thinks English is interesting.
How Do We Form the Present Simple?
The form of the Present Simple changes slightly depending on the subject of the sentence.
Affirmative Sentences
- Для I, you, we, they, we use the base form of the verb.
- I play football.
- They live in London.
- Для he, she, it, добавляем -s или -es к основной форме глагола.
- He plays football.
- She lives in London.
Spelling Rules for -s / -es
- Большинство глаголов: добавить -s (e.g., work → works, eat → eats).
- Verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z, -o: добавить -es (e.g., watch → watches, go → goes, finish → finishes).
- Verbs ending in a consonant + -y: изменить -y в -ies (e.no-translation>study → studies, fly → flies).

Negative Sentences
Мы используем do not (don't) или does not (doesn't) + the base form of the verb.

Questions
Мы используем Do или Does at the beginning of the question + subject + base form of the verb.

For 'Wh-' questions (e.g., What, Where, When), put the 'Wh-' word first.
