When Do We Use Present Continuous for the Future?
We use the present continuous tense to talk about future plans and arrangements.
- These are plans you have already made.
- They are fixed, like an appointment or a ticket you bought.
- It is not a spontaneous decision.
It means the plan is already in your calendar or diary.
How to Form Sentences for Future Plans?
The structure is the same as the normal present continuous, but we add a future time word.
- Positiv: Subject + am/is/are + verb + -ing + future time expression.

Spanish speakers sometimes make these mistakes:
- Using the simple present: You might say I go to the cinema tomorrow. This is incorrect for a personal plan. In English, the simple present is usually for schedules (like a train schedule: The train leaves at 7 PM.). For your own plans, use the present continuous: I am going to the cinema tomorrow.
- Direct translation of 'ir a': Sometimes you might think of ir a and say I am going to go to the party. While this is grammatically correct, I am going to the party. (present continuous) is more natural and common for a fixed plan.
